Congress und Messe Innsbruck GmbH (CMI) was once again awarded the prestigious Green Globe certificate in 2025 – a confirmation of their continuous commitment to ecological, social and economic sustainability at all three locations Congress Innsbruck, Messe Innsbruck and congresspark igls.
Innsbruck, 07/08/2025. For the fourth time in a row, Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI) 2025 has been successfully recognised by Green Globe, one of the world's leading sustainability certificates for the event and tourism industry. The comprehensive catalogue of criteria annually reviews the implementation and further development of sustainable measures in the areas of ‘Sustainable Management’, ‘Social/Economic’, ‘Cultural Heritage’ and ‘Environment’. Managing Director Christian Mayerhofer is delighted with the award: “The Green Globe certification is recognition of our sustainable planning and corresponding measures. As a leading Tyrolean event venue, we want to play an active role in shaping resource-conserving and future-orientated business practices.”
The sustainability strategy of Congress Messe Innsbruck encompasses fields of action such as energy generation, energy efficiency, waste avoidance, sustainable procurement, mobility, communication and social responsibility. At Congress Innsbruck and Messe Innsbruck, deep groundwater wells already cover a large part of the heating and cooling requirements. congresspark igls also utilises a solar thermal system. An intelligent building management system optimises the use of energy. Conserving resources and avoiding waste are key: co-operation with regional suppliers and a consistent waste separation system have a positive effect. A concept for the further utilisation of renewable energy sources is being planned. Cooperation with regional transport operators enables free travel to and from CMI trade fairs by public transport.
In addition to Green Globe certification, Congress Messe Innsbruck also holds the Austrian Ecolabel for ‘Green Meetings & Green Events’ and is certified as a ‘Green Location’ at all three locations. It therefore offers organisers the opportunity to hold events in certified sustainable venues and is able to carry out the audit for the certification of events in its buildings itself – all from a single source. Congress Messe Innsbruck has also been a certified Climate Alliance company since 2024.
