Change in Management at Congress Messe Innsbruck

Christian Mayerhofer, who has successfully managed the operations of Tyrol’s leading events company since 2013, is stepping down for personal reasons. 

Two Authorized Signatories to Take Over on an Interim Basis


The shareholders of CMI – the City of Innsbruck, the State of Tyrol, the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, and the Innsbruck and its Holiday Villages Tourism Association – are committed to continuity and have announced a search for a new CEO.  Until a successful replacement is found, interim management will be handled by the two authorized signatories, Astrid Kirchbichler, Head of Finance and Human Resources, and Hansjörg Stern, Exhibition Center Operations Manager. Both are thoroughly familiar with the company’s operational processes and will continue to steer CMI’s strategic direction in close coordination with the Supervisory Board. Together with the dedicated team at Congress Messe Innsbruck, the company will continue to support its customers and partners with expertise and the professionalism they have come to expect. 

The Supervisory Board and the shareholders thank Christian Mayerhofer for his visionary dedication and outstanding management achievements. Under his leadership, Congress Messe Innsbruck has developed very positively; the portfolio of offerings has been continuously expanded, and the company’s competitiveness as well as its national and international reputation have been strengthened. Even the pandemic-related challenges in the events sector were successfully overcome under Mayerhofer’s far-sighted and level-headed leadership. As an experienced trade fair, congress, and event professional with international expertise, Mayerhofer has provided important impetus for the congress and trade fair venue as well as the entire region in the face of fierce competition.

The shareholders also express their gratitude to the interim managing directors for taking on this responsible task. With their experience and dedication, they are ensuring a seamless transition and safeguarding the continuity of the company. Congress Messe Innsbruck is a trusted partner for conferences, trade shows, and events, and plays a key role in the region’s economic and tourism development. With approximately 80 employees and over 100 temporary staff, 450 to 500 events of all kinds are held each year at the three venues: Congress Innsbruck, Messe Innsbruck, and congresspark igls. A total of between 500,000 and 600,000 visitors are welcomed.
