Innsbruck Strengthens Its Profile as an Alpine Convention and Trade Show Destination

The ICAR Conference and Alpinmesse with the Alpinforum will make Innsbruck a hub for alpine safety and innovation in the fall of 2026.

International Mountain Rescue Meets the World of Mountain Sports

With the ICAR conference in October and the Alpinmesse featuring with Alpinforum on November 21 and 22, Innsbruck underscores its importance as a hub for alpine expertise and international exchange. Approximately 650 industry professionals from 35 countries attended the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR) conference at Congress Innsbruck. Topics included rescue technologies, operational methods, crisis management, and training and continuing education. During the Practical Day on the Nordkette, more than 400 participants practiced rescue procedures in alpine terrain.

“The immediate proximity between Congress Innsbruck and the mountains was a major advantage. Within a very short time, we were able to combine professional exchanges at the convention center with practical exercises on the Seegrube,” explains Martin Gurdet, Federal Executive Director of the Austrian Mountain Rescue Service.

Alpinmesse Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

On November 21 and 22, the mountaineering community will gather at the Messe Innsbruck. Leading brands will showcase equipment, technologies, and innovations. The Alpinforum, organized by the Austrian Board for Alpine Safety (ÖKAS), will address current safety issues. Workshops, lectures, and a supporting program will round out the event.

In 2026, the Alpinmesse will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Since its first edition in 2006, it has developed into one of the most important gathering places for the European mountaineering community. Together with its long-standing partner ÖKAS, CMI combines the latest industry developments with practical knowledge and a strong focus on alpine safety. Hansjörg Stern of the interim management team at Congress Messe Innsbruck says: “With the ICAR Conference and the Alpinmesse with Alpinforum 2026, our event venues are dedicated to alpine safety and bring together international experts, alpine organizations, companies, and mountain sports enthusiasts.
