Incentives and inspiration for Austria’s hotel industry

08.07.2025

Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI) was once again awarded the Green Globe certificate in 2025 – a confirmation of its consistent commitment to sustainability.

Sustainability as responsibility and mission

Congress Messe Innsbruck (CMI) was awarded the prestigious Green Globe certificate for the fourth time in a row in 2025. The international sustainability seal annually checks the implementation and further development of ecological, social and economic measures in areas such as sustainable management, social responsibility, the environment and cultural heritage. ‘The Green Globe certification is a recognition of our sustainable planning and measures – and at the same time a clear mandate to consistently continue along this path,’ emphasises Christian Mayerhofer, Managing Director of Congress Messe Innsbruck.

Concrete measures and benefits for organisers

CMI's sustainability strategy covers key areas of action such as energy efficiency, waste avoidance, sustainable procurement and social responsibility. The majority of heating and cooling requirements are already covered by deep groundwater wells, supplemented by solar systems and intelligent building control. Another example is the cooperation with VVT, which enables visitors to travel to and from trade fairs free of charge using public transport. In addition to the Green Globe seal, the CMI is also certified with the Austrian Ecolabel for ‘Green Meetings & Events’ and as a ‘Green Location’ – organisers benefit from the opportunity to have their events inspected and certified directly on site. CMI has also been a member of the Climate Alliance since 2024.
