Innsbruck

Innsbruck, Tyrol’s state capital, with its 130,000 inhabitants, is situated at 575 m above sea level surrounded by impressive mountain peaks. Innsbruck is one of the most beautiful cities in the Alps. This is mainly due to the townscape, characterized by the Innsbruck Old Town with its arcades, the City Tower and the Golden Roof. The city’s location as a bridge between north and south, between east and west and its one century-long tradition as a university town lend Innsbruck a political, economical and cultural significance.
